                      The Complete FAX 9624
                     Using Carbon Copy v6.0

provide help with this document.  The user of said information
does so at his or her own risk.

Setting up Carbon Copy to run with the Complete FAX 9624 should
not be any more difficult than setting up any other modem
software.  With Carbon Copy, the key to successful operation is
making sure that you don't have any COM port or IRQ conflicts and
that your hardware settings of the modem agree with your software
settings in Carbon Copy.  Beyond that, Carbon Copy is like any
other modem software.

First check your hardware to be sure that you do not have a COM
port or IRQ conflict.  If you have another device other than your
Complete FAX 9624 set for the same COM port as The Complete FAX
9624, neither Carbon Copy nor your Complete FAX 9624 will
function properly.  Carbon Copy will detect this during its
diagnostic and deny you access to the program.  Once you've
determined that no COM port conflict exists, check your system to
determine whether you have an IRQ conflict.  COM ports use IRQ.
Each COM port is assigned an IRQ for its use.  COM1 is generally
set for IRQ 4.  COM2 is generally assigned IRQ3.  Be sure that
you do not have any other device using the IRQ of the COM port
you've selected.
     
To configure Carbon Copy to run with the Complete FAX 9624,
change subdirectory location to that which contains your Carbon
Copy software.  Execute the command CCINSTAL.

The first parameter deals with you COM ports.  If the current COM
port is not set to that of your Complete FAX 9624, press the A
key until it is.

Parameter B controls the baud rate.  Your Complete FAX 9624
operates at up to 2400 baud MNP.  Press the B key to make the
appropriate selection.

Parameter C allows you to select modem type.  Press the C key to
invoke Carbon Copy's list to modems.  The Complete FAX 9624 will
most closely resemble the selection MNP Compatible.  Move the
highlight bar to it and press the ENTER key.

The other settings in Carbon Copy will depend on your personal
preference and are not critical to the operation of the Complete
FAX 9624.

Press the X key to save the current selection and exit to the DOS
prompt.  Carbon Copy is now ready to run with the Complete FAX
9624.  If the Complete FAX 9624 is the host, execute the command
CC.  If it is the caller, exeute CCHELP.

If the Complete FAX 9624 fails to respond properly to Carbon
Copy, note the error message flashed by Carbon Copy.  Most
problems can generally be traced back to either COM port or IRQ
conflict.  A typical symptom of IRQ conflict does not necessarily
generate an error message.  The modem software dials out but does
not seem to establish connection.  This is not uncommon and
easily resolved by tracking down the source of the conflict and
removing it.
